Chapter 53 Caspian, Dad Promises He'll Marry Her!

"Caspian?" Alaric slowly walked over and crouched down in front of him, delicately calling out his name.

Hearing it was Alaric, Caspian lifted his head, his eyes burning with anger, and asked, "Is your relationship with

Mom all for show? Do you truly dislike her? You two will never be together, will you?"

At that moment, Alaric was at a loss for words. Through their ttogether, he realized that Galatea was not the

person he had imagined her to be.

"Even if you truly dislike her, even if you'll never be with her; | do like her. She's the mom I've always dreamed

of!"

Caspian's voice broke as tears streamed down his face, his tearful eyes staring straight at Alaric as if putting him

on trial.

"You say Orion is my mom, and | have no choice but to accept her, but the truth is it's not that | don't accept her.

She doesn't accept me. I've always wanted her love. | want a mom who cherishes me, just like other kids have,

but Orion just doesn't like me.

"I've tried so hard to please her, to get close to her, but she always pushesaway, as if | carry sfilth on

me. When | fell ill, | wanted her care, but she avoidedlike the plague.

"Disliked and rejected by my own mother, you've never acknowledged that the one who was hurt was me.

Instead, you've blamedfor being unreasonable, insisting that | must recognize her. You've never considered

my feelings!

"| finally found the mother | truly wanted. Why has it beca terrible sin? Why do | have to dislike the person

you don't like? Are you really my dad? Do you really love me?"

"Caspian, I'm sorry. I've been at fault, but I can tell you with certainty that I love you very much!"

Caspian's words were a stab to Alaric's heart. He was just a six-year-old child. How could he understand all this

complexity? All he wanted was such a simple thing, it was a mother to love and cherish him.

"You don't love me. There's no one in this house who loves me."

"How can you say that?" Alaric quickly embraced him, saying tenderly, "I'm your dad. How could I not love you?

You are the one I love most in this world."

"If you truly loved me, how could you hurt the person | love?" Caspian pushed Alaric away suddenly, "I'll never

see mom again, never have a mom who loveslike she did. Are you happy now? Is this what makes all of you

happy?" Caspian was truly heartbroken, so when Alaric saw him like this, he quickly embraced him and

reassured him, "Caspian, Dad promises you that I'll let her be your mom, okay?"

At that moment, Alaric had compromised. Before the arrival of Galatea, Caspian had not been happy these

years. But her presence healed his condition, brightened his personality, and he even started making friends.

Why ruin something that sparked such a change in him? Perhaps it wasn't about special measures. Maybe it was

simply a natural connection-a matter of fate.

"Did you just say you'd really let her be my mom?" Caspian could hardly believe it.

"I swear, Caspian. If I'm lying to you, I'll drop dead from a stroke right here and now, okay?" Alaric said and

mimicked a pledge with his hand.

Caspian gaped at him in astonishment, barely dared to believe it and needed confirmation once more, "What do

you mean, exactly? Are you just agreeing for the sake of agreeing, or are you honestly going to marry her?" "|

mean, it's out in the open. She'll be your mom, my wife."

Caspian burst into a tear-streaked smile at hearing this. In an instant, he wrapped his arms around Alaric,

"Thanks, Dad. Then, once Mom is well and out of the hospital, you'll marry her, right?" "Of course," Alaric agreed.

"Thank you, Dad!" Caspian said, excitedly kissing his cheek. "I love you, Dad!"

Alaric hadn't seen Caspian this happy in the six years of raising him. If he really married Galatea, would Caspian

see her every day and be this joyful all the time?

"All right, Caspian, I've got to head to the hospital to take care of her. You stay with Cormac and be good,

alright?"

"Okay!" Caspian obediently nodded.

Alaric left feeling reassured seeing Caspian this way. Meanwhile, Cormac could only watch the boy with

bewilderment.

Caspian simply smiled and said, "Cormac, thanks for tonight. I'm off to bed now, goodnight."

Once Caspian had closed his bedroom door, Cormac stood outside, utterly confused.

As Caspian lay in bed, he checked the time. It was late, so he decided to wait until tomorrow. Harry would be

thrilled to hear about Dad marrying Mom, too, right?

So, first thing the following morning, Caspian called Harry. It was Sunday, and Harry wasn't exactly thrilled about

being woken up early on a day reserved for sleeping in.

Seeing that it was Caspian calling, he felt even less inclined to pick up. He hung up the phone. But the darn thing

rang again immediately-so infuriating!

"Caspian, what the heck do you want this early in the morning?" Harry growled into the phone, annoyance lacing

his tone. "I made myself crystal clear last night-we're done interfering in each other's lives."

"There's something important | need to tell you," Caspian blurted out in haste. "Dad gavehis word-he's going

to marry Mom, and this tit's for real!"

"Dad's going to marry Mom?" Harry scoffed, letting out a derisive laugh before retorting, "You think I'm thrilled?

Believe it or not, Caspian-the line of suitors for my mom stretches out the door. She not even interested in

marrying him!" Harry was about to hang up when Caspian urgently shouted, "Harry, don't hang up just yet!"

"What else is there to say? Spit it out because after this, you're getting blocked."

"Harry, Dad messed up before. Give him another chance, will ya?"

"You got anything else? If not, I'm hanging up!"

"I do!" Caspian rushed on. "Seriously, there's more. Go to the study, open the second drawer of the desk, find

the fifth book, and turn to page twenty-three."

"What on earth?"

"Just do it."

Baffled by his intentions, Harry followed Caspian's instructions and found a black card.

"Inside, there's a black card. Did you find it?" Caspian said. "It's got over five million dollars in it. Mom needs it

for her recovery after the car accident, and you need money for your and Elisa's tuition. The card's for you."

"Hold on a second!" Harry felt humiliated. "What's this supposed to mean, Caspian? Trying to show off your

wealth or something?"

Before Harry could finish, Caspian hadn't even responded when Elisa burst in, snatching the black card with

sheer excitement, exclaiming, "Harry, is this the huge bonus you were talking about?"
