Chapter 261

Chapter 261

Holden abruptly returned to his senses and hastily exclaimed, “It's Yehoshua. He was abroad for training, which

concluded just yesterday. He's downstairs now.”

“Yehoshua?” Elysia had always been aware of her four brothers, but she had never met Yehoshua. Nor had she

ever inquired about him.

Now, upon hearing of his return, she inexplicably felt a hint of nervousness. The fearless Elysia, who had never

been afraid of anything, found herself worrying whether Yehoshua would approve of her.

Noticing Elysia’s lack of reaction, Holden waved his hand in front of her face. “Elysia, are you alright?”

Snapped out of her reverie by Holden's voice, Elysia replied, “It's nothing. Let's go see Yehoshua.”

“Of course,” Holden agreed.

As they reached the top of the stairs, a man entered from outside. Despite his casual attire, his swift steps and

demeanor unmistakably betrayed his status as a military officer.

Yehoshua noticed Elysia as well, and when their gazes met, they were momentarily rooted to the spot.

Yehoshua felt as though his feet were glued to the floor, unable to move. At that moment, Hugo rushed in from

outside, exclaiming, “Do you really have to be in such a hurry?”

While they conversed, Hugo moved next to Yehoshua and observed that Yehoshua was intently gazing in a

particular direction. Following his gaze, Hugo saw a girl who was both innocent and captivating.

No, it was more accurate to say she was charmingly innocent. She possessed an intriguing blend of innocence

and allure. He had never encountered a girl like her before.

Hugo had met Evelyn before. Although the girl and Evelyn bore a resemblance, their auras were vastly different.

Evelyn exuded a literary elegance, giving off a sense of tranquility and detachment from worldly affairs. But the

girl before him, her beauty was as vibrant as a garden in full bloom and as pure as spring water.

He had never met someone who emitted such distinct vibes yet combined them so harmoniously. Hugo glanced

over and suddenly leaned closer to Yehoshua, whispering in a voice audible only to them, “Yehoshua, I'm

suddenly having second. thoughts. Having a sister seems pretty nice.”

Still somewhat stunned, Yehoshua’s face immediately changed upon hearing those words, and he furrowed his

brow deeply. “Don’t forget the promise you made before we chere.”

He spoke in an extremely low voice, causing Hugo to raise an eyebrow. A memory suddenly flashed through

Hugo's mind- in a tent in Havaria, he had confidently assured Yehoshua, promising not to speak recklessly.

“My loose tongue, why did | say something like that?” Hugo regretted it instantly. Even though he had once

claimed that girls were too much trouble because they cried too easily, he couldn't resist the charm of

Yehoshua's adorable sister.

But Hugo didn’t have a sister. In the past, he wouldn't have cared, but seeing Yehoshua with a sister like that, he

had to admit that he felt a pang of jealousy.

Hugo and Yehoshua had been rivals since childhood, and now Hugo was losing to Yehoshua in this way too. It

was somewhat disappointing.

Elysia gazed at the very handsman standing below, a slight smile unconsciously curling her lips.

“Yehoshua,” she said softly.

Upon hearing his ncalled, Yehoshua didn’t react immediately. Noticing this, Hugo gently nudged him and

reminded him, “Your sister is calling you. If you don’t answer, | will”

Hearing that, Yehoshua nudged Hugo back. “Keep dreaming!” Then, with a smile, he looked at the girl standing

at the upd the stairs. “Elysia, | am back,” he said, his eyes gleaming and his voice smooth yet warm, like that of

a soldier, you posta

Elysia descended the stairs with an enchanting grace, her uncontainable smile captivating the gaze of every

man present, her beauty as mesmerizing as a fairy descending to earth.

Hugo leaned in close to Yehoshua and whispered urgently, “Yehoshua, I'm having serious doubts about this.

What do you suggest | do?”

Yehoshua barely parted his lips in response, saying simply, “Just keep quiet”

Hugo rolled his eyes in annoyance and muttered, “You're such a tightwad

Just then, Elysia approached them. Her eyes briefly flickered over Hugo's face before resting on Yehova. An

awkward silence enveloped them, leaving both men at a loss for words.

Eventually, Yehoshua broke the tension. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a wooden box, handing it

to Elysia with a smile. “Elysia, this is a gift. | hope you like it.”

Elysia accepted the box and carefully opened it, revealing a medal inside. For a moment, she was taken aback.

She recognized it immediately as the highest honor bestowed upon military personnel worldwide-an award many

soldiers spend their entire careers dreaming of receiving, yet Yehoshua had given it to her.

Seeing Elysia’s lack of reaction, Yehoshua assumed she didn’t like the gift and quickly added, “Elysia, if you're

not fond of it, | will get you something better next time.”

Upon hearing this, Elysia handed the box back to Yehoshua. “I really do like it, but it's too valuable. | can’t accept

ie.”

Yehoshua, immersed in the joy of his sister's reaction, failed to notice the deeper meaning in her words.

However, Hugo raised an eyebrow, his gaze filled with curiosity as he looked at Elysia.

Hugo wondered how she knew the value of this medal. But then again, he thought it was because she was just

well-informed.

Yehoshua insisted, pushing the box back towards her. “What are you talking about? Whether it’s valuable or not,

if you like it, I would do anything for you.”

Elysia didn’t refuse this time. She appreciated Yehoshua’s kindness and thought she could always repay him with

a gift later. With that in mind, she put the box away and said, “Okay, thank you, Yehoshua.”

“Just glad that you like it,” Yehoshua smiled.

Olive’s voice suddenly rang out, cutting through the conversation. “I hear Yehoshua is back?”

Everyone turned towards the door, where a servant was assisting Olive towards them. Yehoshua quickly stepped

forward to support her and dismissed the servant. “We can take care of Grandma. You can go now.”

“Yes, sir,” the servant replied and left.

“It’s so good to see you. You're looking stronger than ever,” Olive said warmly.

Holden, however, looked a bit rebellious and said, “Grandma, you used to favor Yehoshua and Evelyn the most.

Now count Elysia. As your grandson, | feel like I have no standing at all.”

“You brat, what nonsense are you talking about? When have | ever not cared for you?” Olive retorted.

“Then why don’t | feel it?” Holden asked defiantly.
