Ava didn’t get what Elena meant, but she kept quiet, giving Elysia a small smile and saying, “It’s nothing” Elysia
could tell Ava had more to say, but she just hadn't decided yet.
Olive noticed the hints and looked at Elysia warmly. “Elysia, no rush. We can take our tto think it over?
“Okay, thanks, Grandma”
The decision about Elysia’s schooling was a joint discussion by Olive, Edward, and Quinita. But when Olive asked
Elysia’s opinion, she added another option-going back to Sivro,
After finally finding their daughter, Edward and Quinita hoped Elysia’d stay in forlandia for school so they could
be closer. If she went to Sivro, they'd only see her every few weeks. They didn’t want that.
But they understood Olive’s point: Elysia had friends and classmates in Sivro. It would be selfish of them, as her
family, to cut her off from her past.
In the end, they chose to support Elysia’s happiness over daily companionship. She should do what she loved
most.
Jack sat quietly, deep in thought. Finally, he looked at Elysia and sighed, “Elysia, ctake a walk with me?
Elysia nodded and helped Jack up. They walked outside. The others watched them leave but kept chatting
casually. They smiled, pouted playfully, and joked around. No one was actually upset.
Elena and Ava smiled too, especially Elena. Watching everyone made her feel a mix of warmth and envy.

A hshould be warm and comforting. Her hwas cold and distant, however. Elena thought, ‘Elysia is
luckier. Her his full of life, and everyone loves her dearly.
Jack and Elysia walked along the tree-lined path after leaving the living room. They didn’t talk for a moment until
Jack suddenly stopped, staring at a small tree.
Following his gaze, Elysia saw the tree, surrounded by bigger ones. Before she could speak, Jack said, “Elysia,
don’t you think this little tree looks like you? And these big trees look like us old folks.”
Elysia nodded, feeling a strange emotion as she looked at the tree. “It really does. The little tree needs
Grandpa's protection to grow well.”
Jack sighed and said, “We're all getting older. One day, this little tree will grow tall and strong.”
He paused and then continued, “Elysia, | always thought growing up too fast wasn’t a good thing. You've been
smart since you were little, always ahead of everyone. You're practically a genius.
“But geniuses often miss out on things. Moving too fast makes it hard to enjoy the journey and you might lose
sof the joys of being young.
“I think the only good thing Scott did was send you to school. You don’t really need it with your abilities, but
since you went to that school, I've seen changes in you. You've gained a sense of innocence and romance that
fits your age.
“You don’t show indifference all the tor frown like you used to. You smile, stand up for your friends, and even
feel sadness-things you never showed before.”
Elysia listened, her eyes still on the small tree. She thought about the past decade. All she did was study. But
since meeting Elena, Ava, and her classmates, things she once thought impossible now seemed possible.
She spent thelping them improve their grades, ran races for the class's honor, and even participated in a
competition to get autographs for Ava. She’d never had those experiences before, but now she did.

And they? They stood up for her when she was criticized and even climbed over the school walls to see her. They
were so warm-hearted. The precious moments were all because of them. Thanks to them, her dull life had
gained scolor.
Seeing Elysia’s silence, Jack knew she was thinking about what he had said. He continued, “Elysia, | know what's
bothering you. It’s whether to keep going to school.”
Elysia looked at Jack, and he could tell he'd hit the mark. He walked over and gently touched the tree trunk. I've
said what | needed to say. The choice is yours. | won't interfere.”
He started walking again, and Elysia quickly caught up to support him. The rest of the walk was quiet, with no
one saying a word.
In the Evans yard, there was a pond with clear water where sfish swam. Ava was leaning on the railing,
frowning. Elena stood with her back to Ava, her expression unreadable.

spoken, there might've been a chance for Elysia to go back to Sivro. Then we wouldn't have to be apart.”
“| stopped you because | knew you were going to try to convince her.”
Hearing that, Ava looked even more confused. “You knew and still stopped me? Elena, don’t you want the three
of us to always be together?”
“Of course | do, but Ava, have you forgotten? Elysia already graduated from Harfard University. She doesn’t need
to go through high school again. If it’s not what she wants, how can we, as her friends, influence her decision?”
