Chapter 31

Given Amara's personality, she wasn't the type to do something like that.

Amara gently patted Elysia's shoulder, comforting her. She thought it best to postpone sharing her pregnancy

news, considering Elysia's current emotional state.

An hour later, Amara left the apartment. As she stepped out, she noticed a tall, lean figure leaning against the

nearby wall. His eyes were fixed on her, and in the dimly lit hallway, it was a bit unsettling.

She was startled. She hadn't expected Finnian to still be there, especially not with such a cold gaze, which

pained her.

Just as she was about to ask what was going on, Finnian grabbed her wrist, muttering "We need to talk" before

leading her downstairs.

With a loud bang, Finnian yanked open the car door and somewhat roughly pushed Amara inside. He climbed in

after her, closed the door, and with a voice as cold as ice, said, "You don't want the divorce?"

What was he talking about?

"| didn't say that!" Amara immediately countered.

Finnian remained silent. He pulled out his phone, and with a few swift taps, a familiar voice played from the

speaker. Amara froze.

It was her voice, telling Liliana that she didn't really want to divorce Finnian. But how did Finnian get this

recording? A chill ran down her spine. The car seemed to shrink, and she struggled to breathe.

"That was something | said to provoke Liliana when she was provoking and slandering me!" Amara quickly

explained.

"I only said that to get back at her. It wasn't true; | really do want the divorce!" she said, her voice tinged with

anxiety. "And that recording is incomplete; it doesn't capture the entire conversation. It's out of context!"

Amara was desperate to clear things up, her frustration with Liliana and whoever recorded and sent this to

Finnian growing.

Finnian sat in the shadows, and in the dim car interior, Amara couldn't read his expression. She could only sense

his silhouette growing colder, his voice more detached.

"Amara, | don't care whether what you said is true or not, nor do | have the energy to investigate. I'm just letting

you know I've refiled the divorce papers. We'll definitely be divorced in a month."

There were no disrespectful words in his statement, nor any accusations. Yet, why did she feel a chill run from

her head to her toes?

Amara lowered her head, her body trembling as she clutched the hem of her dress. She thought she'd feel better

if Finnian had angrily questioned her. Anything would have been better than his indifference.

"| got it," Amara whispered. "We'll definitely be divorced in a month. You won't have any problems from my end,

rest assured."

With that, she couldn't bear the cramped car any longer. The air seemed to thin, the temperature dropping with

every second. She couldn't stay there another moment. She flung open the car door and left.

Watching Amara walk away, Finnian slowly turned his gaze back, driving off to the office. Entering his office, he

felt a weight in his chest, making him uncomfortable.

He loosened his tie. The documents in front of him were piled up, all of which he could read, yet none of which

he could focus on.

His mind was filled with the image of Amara's face from their recent encounter.
