When Pearl looked up, a woman hugged her tightly and began crying.

"My Pearl..."

Pearl stared at the woman with streaks of gray hair. She was unsure what to think. "Mom."

"You're back at last. Do you know how long I've waited? | almost thought I'd lost you for good." Saule held Pearl

close for a long tbefore letting go.

"How could you think that? I'm right here, aren't I?" Pearl smiled reassuringly, then glanced toward the distant

manor. "Mom, why are you here?"

A blush spread across Saule's cheeks. She didn't need to say much for Pearl to guess the truth.

"You guys are together again?"

"Ahem... Yes. He's always loved me. He even saved my life once. | lost my memory after | jumped off a building.

We spent swonderful days together, and that's when you calong. But, | forgot all about him when my

Pearl was stunned by her mom's story, but the happy ending made her smile. Instead of asking more questions,

Pearl blessed her.

"Let's go see your dad."

But then Saule hesitated and looked anxious. She hadn't asked Pearl if it was okay to be with Santiago again, nor

had she told her about it. She was worried Pearl might not want to call Santiago 'dad.’

Pearl noticed Saule's anxiety. "Mom, don't worry. You deserve your happiness. Don't think too much about what

others feel. You are your own person first, my mom second."

Saule was touched by Pearl's words and began to cry. "I was so worried you wouldn't accept us being together."

"Why not? I'm happy if you're happy." Pearl smiled and led the way to the door. "He's waiting for us."

They entered the manor hand in hand.

Inside, Santiago was pacing in the living room, looking anxious. When he saw Pearl, he froze, unsure what to say.

Finally, Pearl smiled and approached him. "What are you doing standing here, Dad?"

Hearing that word, Santiago's eyes welled up. "What did you just call me? | didn't catch that.

"Dad."

Seeing Pearl and Santiago getting along, Saule was relieved.

They sat down together and began chatting about family matters. Both Santiago and Saule gazed at Pearl with

Santiago looked away to make Pearl more comfortable and started asking serious questions.

"I've heard about your experiences abroad. Don't worry. Now that you're back, | want to make things right. How
